ICSI

ICSI is the acronym for Intra-Cytoplasmic Sperm Injection, and is a very effective method to fertilise eggs in the IVF lab.

How is ICSI done?

The procedure for ICSI is similar to that of IVF, but instead of fertilisation taking place in a dish, our embryologist selects a normal, healthy sperm and carefully injects it into the inner part of the egg. This usually results in fertilisation in about 75% – 85% of eggs. The fertilized egg is then implanted in the mother-to-be's womb.

"We recommend ICSI for couples who are dealing with severe male factor infertility and those who have tried IVF without success.
